The problem: black bars
Apple says all apps still run on iPhone Duo. But an app that isn't yet optimised for iPhone Duo can appear as a narrow column on the open screen, with empty black space either side. Apple's developer guidance says that to be fully optimised, apps need to be built with the iOS 27.1 SDK and have layouts that size from the window rather than the screen, with no orientation-based layout and support for vertical toolbars and tab bars.
